E.K. Ota is an American writer born in Southern California. She earned her bachelor’s degree and MFA from Emerson College. She was a Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellow in 2018 and received the St. Botolph Club Foundation Emerging Artist Award in 2019. After living in Massachusetts for some time, Ota moved to Japan where she is currently working on a collection of short stories. “The Paper Artist” was a winning entry in the Fall 2022 Issue of Emerson’s Ploughshares.
