The following article on coping strategies is pretty interesting and contains results from surveys conducted on students, some demographic and others behavioral that are worth considering.  For example, their survey states that female students generally feel more stress that male students; there is some information about students’ sense of confidence; and then some findings on coping strategies that is intriguing.  77% of the respondants say they cope via socializing, 51% via leisure activities, 39% via drinking, but the one that is most interesting for our purposes because of our counseling and CARE program is that only 5% are willing to talk to a professional.   Anyway, just some interesting data to share.  ~ Elizabeth

Our Mental Health First Aid team presented on ‘Belonging’ on 2/14/23 and here’s the link to that if anyone would like to watch. We explored what “belonging” means, how it impacts Mental Health, how to create a sense of belonging in the classroom, and how to help students engage in community and belonging on campus. We highlighting current opportunities for connection among students, and ask participants to brainstorm ways to increase opportunities for connection and belonging at CWI.One of the sources cited is the book by Terrell L.
